Giải thích

Câu tường thuật (gián tiếp) thuật lại lời người khác nói không dùng dấu ngoặc kép. Thì thường lùi một bậc (hiện tại→quá khứ, will→would, can→could), và đại từ cùng từ chỉ thời gian/nơi chốn đổi theo góc nhìn mới. Câu hỏi tường thuật dùng trật tự câu kể; mệnh lệnh tường thuật dùng "tell somebody to do". "say" không có tân ngữ; "tell" cần một tân ngữ (tell me).

Reported (indirect) speech restates what someone said without quotation marks. Tenses usually shift one step back (present→past, will→would, can→could), and pronouns and time/place words change to fit the new viewpoint. Reported questions use statement word order; reported commands use "tell somebody to do". "say" has no object; "tell" needs one (tell me).
