Cấu tạo từ tạo đúng từ loại từ một gốc bằng tiền tố và hậu tố (produce → production → productive → productively). Hậu tố thường báo hiệu từ loại: -tion/-ment/-ness (danh từ), -ise/-ify (động từ), -able/-ive/-ful (tính từ), -ly (trạng từ). Tiền tố như un-, in-, dis-, re- đổi nghĩa. Đây là trọng tâm TOEIC Part 5, nơi vị trí trong câu cho biết cần chọn dạng nào.

Word formation builds the right part of speech from a root using prefixes and suffixes (produce → production → productive → productively). Suffixes usually signal the part of speech: -tion/-ment/-ness (noun), -ise/-ify (verb), -able/-ive/-ful (adjective), -ly (adverb). Prefixes such as un-, in-, dis-, re- change meaning. This is central to TOEIC Part 5, where the sentence position tells you which form to choose.
